Ukraine’s Gas Transmission System Operator (TSO) reported Friday that gas transit through its system has fallen to a 30-year low.

“Through the Ukrainian TSO in June this year, monthly traffic volumes have reached a historical low since 1991: 1.25 billion cubic meters,” the company explained in a statement posted on its Facebook account.

The company comments that gas volumes are down 37 percent compared to May 2022; while this figure has fallen by 66 percent when compared to June of the previous year. Therefore, “Gazprom has used only 38 percent of the reserved capacity,” the report detailed.

This company has indicated that this situation is part of the Russian strategy. “The Kremlin uses aggression not only in the military dimension: trying to interrupt the heating season in Europe is an example of a true hybrid war”, they have affirmed from TSO.

“As a result of the manipulative actions of Gazprom, gas prices in Europe have increased by almost 42 percent since the beginning of June,” they denounced, while noting that the Russian company Gazprom is not fulfilling the contract.
