Difficulties to prove bribes produces few condemned
9 former presidents are investigated for their relationship with Odebrecht
In the following three years, the largest construction company in Latin America passed from heaven to hell through the investigations of the Lava Jato operation. His chief executive fell prisoner, acknowledged paying bribes in exchange for business in 12 countries and signed an agreement for which he must disburse some $ 996 million – $ 786 million of them in Brazil – in 23 years. The firm asked for forgiveness, but it was not yet forgiven.

According to the latest balance sheet of the group, until the end of 2017 it had closed agreements with Panama, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Guatemala, as well as agreements with the US, Swiss and Brazilian authorities. There are preliminary agreements and ongoing collaborations also in Peru, Mexico and Angola. At the same time, the company is still prevented from being hired by the public sector in Peru, Mexico and Ecuador.
