The vice president of the United States, Mike Pence, warned on Monday that any threat to the security of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó will have a “quick response”, as the politician arrived in his country after visiting several South American nations.

“Any threat, violence or intimidation against him will not be tolerated and he will find a quick response,” Pence said on Twitter, when it is feared that Guaidó could be detained for having circumvented a court order prohibiting him from leaving Venezuela.
