A shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Dallas, Texas, left at least three people injured and the alleged attacker dead on Wednesday, U.S. authorities reported.
“There was a shooting this morning at the ICE Field Office in Dallas. Details are still emerging, but we can confirm multiple injuries and casualties. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem reported on X.
Todd Lyons, acting director of ICE, told CNN that “preliminary information indicates this is a possible sniper” with “three people currently injured,” who have been taken to hospitals, with no official report on their identity or medical condition.
The victims could be civilians, ICE agents, or immigrants detained at the site, Lyons said.
“While we don’t yet know the motive, we know our ICE law enforcement personnel are facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” Noem said.
This is the third such incident this year in Texas. In July, authorities charged ten people with participating in a shooting outside a migrant detention center in Alvarado, which left a police officer injured and was deemed an “organized attack” by the Department of Justice.
That same month, federal agents killed a man who opened fire at a Border Patrol building in McAllen, sparking a crossfire that left at least one person wounded.
“The obsessive targeting of law enforcement officers, particularly ICE, must stop ,” Vice President JD Vance said on social media.
