The ruling Realizing Goals (RM) party will present today the list of representatives who will serve on each of the 15 legislative committees . Representative Luis Eduardo Camacho announced this .

The absence of the RM party’s list has stalled the process of reaching consensus on the composition of the committees, two weeks after the start of the regular sessions of the first legislature of the second term of the National Assembly .

In the absence of a list of RM representatives, representatives from other parties have reiterated the possibility of forming legislative committees through a plenary vote rather than by consensus, as has historically been the case.

A meeting between the party leaders and the National Assembly’s board of directors, chaired by Panamanian representative Jorge Herrera , is expected today to seek consensus on the National Assembly’s composition.

At the same time, talks are underway to determine the deputies who will preside over the most coveted committees: Budget, Credentials, and Government . Although the agreement between the Vamos, Cambio Democrático, Partido Panameñista, and Seguimos factions —the latter comprised of the MOCA party and independent deputy Betsarai Richards —provides that Credencias will be presided over by deputy Augusto Palacios and Budget by a member of Cambio Democrático , all indications are that RM is seeking to continue leading Credencias.
