Once again, the attack on a Venezuelan vessel by U.S. military forces has been called into question, this time by Nicolás Maduro himself.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump must investigate the “alleged attack” against a “supposedly Venezuelan” vessel, which was shot down by the United States in an operation in which U.S. authorities say eleven people died, accusing them of drug trafficking.

“Regarding the alleged attack on a supposedly Venezuelan vessel that the President of the United States presented in a video, the first thing that must be said is that the first person who must investigate is the President of the United States himself,” Maduro stated in an international press conference broadcast on the state-run Venezuelan Television (VTV).

Maduro reports the seizure of 3,600 kilos of cocaine transported by boat.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro also reported on Monday the seizure of 3,600 kilos of cocaine being transported on a boat, he said, although he did not specify where the operation took place.

“Today we have had a great success because we have just legally seized a boat carrying 3,600 kilos of cocaine. It’s happening now, in real time. They were surrounded, the proportional force required by the law was used, and they were captured,” Maduro said in an international press conference broadcast on the state-run Venezuelan Television (VTV).
