At least 20 of the 26 deputies that make up the ruling Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) party agreed on Wednesday, June 6, that on July 1 they will support the re-election of Yanibel Ábrego as president of the National Assembly .

Yanibel Ábrego is elected as president of the National Assembly
The announcement was made by the deputy and general secretary of the PRD, Pedro Miguel González , after a meeting for almost four hours that the members of the caucus had.

“We took the decision to vote for a proposal, which is to support the re-election of Yanibel Ábrego as president of the National Assembly, I think it is the most transcendent decision of the decisions we made today,” he added.

However, González explained that the decision was made by “initiative” of the deputies, but must be approved by the National Executive Committee (CEN) the first days of next week.

Regarding the candidates for first and second vice-president, the deputy said that the caucus “will be able to select democratically” from those who would accompany Ábrego in the new legislative leadership.
