Pacifying my neighborhood will be executed starting next week in Altos de Los Lagos
The crimes that have shaken the province of Colón, especially in 2022, is reason enough for the Ministry of Security to implement the ‘Pacifying my Neighborhood, Building the Future’ program, which seeks to get weapons and ammunition off the streets.
According to the entity, people who deliver weapons and ammunition will receive vouchers that can be exchanged in stores and the delivery will be completely confidential and anonymous.
The inspector general of the National Police, Elida Ortega, said that the program comes from an agreement between the Ministry of Security and the Government, which will be carried out confidentially.
He added that the people who the citizens arrive at the place, hand over their weapons, give them their voucher and leave.
Irasema de Dale, Governor of Colón, assured that this program will help reduce the existing violence in the province.
The official stressed that the activity will continue in Barrio Norte, Cativá, Nueva Providencia, Limón and other vulnerable sectors.
