After all rumors and whispers otherwise, seems Messi will finish career in MIAMI

Sport
The Argentine is expected to sign his last contract as a professional player, and the agreement could be announced next week.

In recent months, there has been much talk about Lionel Messi’s possible renewal with Inter Miami . Now that story could have its final conclusion in the next 10 days.

According to the Miami Herald , the renewal between the Las Garzas club and the current world champion is much closer and only details would separate both parties.

According to the aforementioned site, the contract would be multi-year and would be the last he would sign as a professional player, meaning Messi would retire wearing the colors of Inter Miami . This agreement could become official in the next 10 days, but no further details about the renewal have been released so far.

Remember that one of Inter Miami’s priorities for the upcoming season was to secure a new contract for one of its attacking stars, as his contract expired in December 2025.

With this potential deal, Inter Miami will be able to count on Messi in its squad for the inauguration of its new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, which is scheduled to open for the 2026 season. Additionally, the organization of the next FIFA World Cup will benefit from having Messi at the tournament.

Weeks ago they secured the renewal of Jordi Alba , so now, with the more than certain signing of Messi, Inter Miami will try to keep its other stars in the squad, such as Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez.

Messi’s performance since joining the U.S. team has been remarkable. In almost two and a half years, he’s already the team’s leading scorer and most assists provider in history .

This season, despite the injuries he has suffered, in 21 matches played, he has scored 20 goals, being the second highest scorer in Major League Soccer (MLS) this season .
