If the elections were held this weekend, Ricardo Martinelli, José Gabriel Carrizo and Rómulo Roux would lead the results.Martinelli would win the elections with 31% of the votes, the current vice president Carrizo would come in second place with 27% of the votes, while Rómulo Roux would be in third place with 12%. José Blandon would have 8% of the votes, and Ricardo Lombana, 6%.This is the result of the survey of Gismo Services, SA, ordered by the Editorial Group El Siglo & La Estrella de Panamá and which was carried out through a personal interview at home with a simulation of voting in a ballot box from February 22 to 26 , in all the provinces, as well as the Ngäbe Buglé region. Only three of those candidates will be on the ballot. 13% still do not show an inclination or are undecided.On May 5, 2024 Panama will renew all the authorities of popular elections.In this electoral process, the new president and vice president of the Republic, 20 deputies to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), 71 deputies to the National Assembly, 81 mayors, 701 corregimiento representatives and 11 councilors, all with their respective substitute, will be defined for the constitutional mandate from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2029.Regarding the survey, 59% of Panamanians consider that it is democratic that political parties reserve some election positions for partisan alliances and 31% consider that it is not.The PRD reserved 144 popularly elected positions for possible political alliances.On the other hand, the survey with a margin of error of + or -2.3% with a confidence level of 95% reveals that the trend continues regarding the situation in Panama, where close to 4 out of 10 Panamanians consider that the economic scenario is better than a year ago. In addition, there is a positive trend in terms of job creation; 47% consider that a good job is being done.46% of those interviewed agree with the way in which the government of President Cortizo is handling corruption.On economic policies, a little more than 4 out of 10 approve of the management; 48% maintain the opinion that something more should be done to improve this sector. As for the public services program, 41% approve.There is no significant difference between the results of last month regarding the image of President Cortizo; 48% of Panamanians consider that he has a good image.
