SUNTRACS strike forthcoming

Labor

In the morning members of the National Union of Workers of the Construction Industry and Similar (Suntracs) closed several roads in the city of Panama to the conflict that remains with the Panamanian Chamber of Construction (Capac) for a salary increase during the six months of negotiation of a collective agreement.

The workers affiliated with the Suntracs closed the road at Punta Pacifica, Calle 50, Vía España, Transitmica, Corredor Norte, Corredor Sur and the Cinta Costera, affecting traffic to thousands of workers and students.

It should be noted that the construction employees announced that if they did not reach an agreement with the Capac, for the current salary increase to 15%, and the income tax reduction, next Wednesday, April 18, there would be an national strike, from 7:00 a.m.

Currently Suntracs and Capac are negotiating the Collective Convention 2018-2021, of which 14 clauses are still pending, most of which are economic. Only 142 clauses have been agreed out of a total of 155 points of the statement of charges submitted by the workers’ association.
