With the commitment to maintain dialogue as a method of conflict resolution, the Minister of the Presidency, Álvaro Alemán, regretted on behalf of the Government that some leaders in the province of Colon insist on a new strike call when there is a multi-thematic dialogue table headed by ministers of State and directors of different public entities.

Despite the fact that on March 19, with the mediation of the Catholic Church through the Bishop of Colon and Guna Yala, Monsignor Manuel Ochogavía, this table was established that seeks, through consensus, to avoid confrontations; the leadership has opted to “condition”
the same to the issuance of a resolution or executive decree.

Given this, the Minister reiterated the Executive’s willingness to maintain dialogue so as not to disturb public order. Some spokesmen of the colonense leadership demand that these conversations be regulated through a Resolution or Executive Decree.

“We can not acquire commitments of this kind beyond what is our responsibility in our management,” said the Minister, noting that the commitment of this Administration is to work until the last day of management with full responsibility.
