Roux interview in La Estrella: Reveals despite incarceration, Panamanians linger to days of Martinelli

OP ED: by James “JB” Bryson

As an American, I can certainly understand the cult of personality, and the head scratching ways that polarizing people obtain public office. I am of course being quite sarcastic, as a reality TV show star, admitted “Pussy Grabber” (sorry honey) and accused Russian collaborator occupies the highest office on Planet Earth.

So I can see how all of the candidates running in the upcoming election for Panama are beset with anguish in that a man currently incarcerated in El Renacer can not only successfully campaign for Mayor, but also if were to run in the election for PRESIDENT,…TODAY,….WHILE IN PRISON,….would most likely WIN.

As this statement is non scientific and merely based off my interactions with many many Panamanian citizens, it is just an opinion. But a highly informed and easily reinforced one however. Just ask your local Panamanians.

This interview of the CD candidate Romulo Roux, reveals the very uphill battle both he and every other candidate are facing.

Like I said, “The Cult of Personality”. It is real and tangible. Some have it and some don’t.

LA ESTRELLA:

The political rhetoric about the revitalization of the economy has penetrated more than ever in the presidential candidates. This is what Rómulo Roux, an aspirant of the Cambio Democrático party, who indicated that in his government would be willing to do without a juicy percentage of the income tax.Although his idea could be tested by connoisseurs in the field, it does not illustrate it with an economic plan that generates balance in this shortcoming. To seek to remind the elector of the good times of the quinquenio of Ricardo Martinelli. However, the reality is very different. The economy is not growing at the same pace as before and the country has not yet demonstrated international confidence to attract diverse foreign investment. It could improve in the presentation of a more elaborate government plan on its official site. It has five phrases without further explanation on how it will achieve its ambitious objectives, one of them creating 400 thousand new jobs. Roux says that his party is united. Like all those who complete a process of internal election, ensures that the differences have been remedied after being insulted and removed the dirtiest rags.

I HAVE SEEN YOUR PLAN ON THE WEB PAGE, SPEAKS OF FIVE AXES THAT DOES NOT EXPLAIN THE HOW. IN THESE CONDITIONS, WHY WOULD ANYONE VOTE FOR YOU?

When I applied for a candidate, I presented what the Electoral Tribunal demands. It is a small plan, it has 18 pages and it is much more of those five axes. Apart we are going to concentrate from day one on the creation of 400 thousand jobs, which is one of the axes that you mention.
