Light seen at the end of the tunnel for SUNTRACS, resolution possibly close

Human Interest

Yesterday, leaders of the Panamanian Chamber of Construction (Capac) and the National Union of Construction Workers and the like (Suntracs) tried to find a middle ground that would put an end to the strike that keeps the construction sector paralyzed for more than a month.

Although they are close to an agreement, the pact was not sealed. It was unofficially known that the equilibrium point proposed is between 14% and 15% of wage adjustment between 2018 and 2021.

If an agreement is reached today, about 260 projects from the public and private sectors will be reactivated, including Metro Line 2 and the expansion of the Tocumen International Airport .

The lifting of the strike does not eliminate the negative effect, unprecedented for the economy.
